It seems Ward Christensen (developer of XMODEM) has passed away.
Well, there is the problem.
Spouse likes watching the #olympics on #cbc Windsor versus #nbc. Complaints started yesterday about breakups in the video.
I think the pre-amp is no longer amping with 9 dB s/n. Which is great, because I really can’t get to it to fix it after the renovations last summer.
New antenna install here we come.
So I am bike riding at Sterling State Park (#POTA US-1542) thinking to myself “wouldn’t it be fun to be working some HF right now while biking? Imagine the street cred doing bicycle mobile, right @N4JAW”.
My wife yells, “hey, isn’t that an Eastern Massasauga Rattle Snake!?!?!?!?!?”
What, huh?
Sadly, no. Just a Fox snake. Never seen Michigan’s only venomous snake in the wild.
Is there any #HamRadio logging software that actually follows the #ADIF standard and produces only 7-bit US ASCII even when presented strings containing other chars (e.g., ä or €)?
Context: The ADIF dev process is a garbage fire. Every time (there have been many over the years) someone asks for UTF-8 support, the devs claim that they can't break compatibility and if you want unicode you should use ADX (XML-based ADIF that approximately nothing supports).
Before and after the Soufriere Hills volcano erupted in 1997, building a huge lava dome at a rate of 30 cubic meters per second of sticky gassy magma. Build and collapse, sending pyroclastic flows with temperatures of 1500 degrees F to the town of Plymouth.
This is what is left, June 2024. The volcano is still considered active and is obscured by the gasses and dust of its venting.
Remember that scene in Band of Brothers where Easy Co rides out ferocious shelling in fox holes while holding the line in Bastogne?
These are photos of some of those very fox holes, 73 years 264 days later.
