Mastodon poster: The default UI here emits a painful electric shock when I click on the like button. That’s kind of bad.

Replies: you can turn off electric shocks in the advanced settings

Poster: ok, but they really should be off by default. Electric shocks are unnecessary and dangerous.

Replies: go back to Twitter if you don’t like it here.

How about instead of persecuting trans folks we teach people that it’s fine to use soap to clean cast iron because this isn’t the 1900s anymore.

Post whatever you want (within your server's rules).
But please don't use euphemisms for things.

Maybe you did that on other sites to avoid the dogpiling based on searches of words. But there is no full-text search here, so it's not an issue.

What is does impact is those who have put up filters on specific words or phrases. So if you say Frump instead of the former president of the US, that filter won't work. Or if you say Melon instead of a certain CEO, same issue.

Just use the word. Thx.

#USPS has lost my prescriptions yet again. And again, after filing a complaint they insist they delivered it, but can't explain why it wasn't in my locked box two hours later. Thankfully my doctor was able to get me a replacement (at no cost!), but #louisdejoy can rot in hell.
"Woke mind virus" is how billionaires describe the idea that you should give even the tiniest bit of a shit about how your actions will affect other people.

I asked a librarian if she had a book about Pavlov's dog and Schrödinger's cat?

She said it rang a bell, but she wasn't sure if it was there or not.

Found this on FB. All the feels.

And whoa - turns out it's from a TikTok vid by SeaTrick aka @TrixiDelMar. I recommend you watch the video:

Good news on the cryptocurrency front!

Why would the FBI mark MLK as "the most dangerous negro?"

Because he had the ability to move others to peaceful protest with his words. Words. Peaceable assembly. In other words, textbook 1st amendment rights.

The US is so racist, that a Black man exercising his first amendment rights, is considered dangerous. But sure, "let the Nazis talk"🤡

The 1st amendment isn't real if it only applies to white people. Saying "Stop killing us and let us vote" should not trigger FBI attempts to destroy you.

“Mansplaining as a service.” Spot on.

@[email protected] Christine Lemmer-Webber (@[email protected]) described ChatGPT as Mansplaining As A Service, and honestly I can’t think of a better description. A service that instantly generates vaguely plausible sounding yet totally fabricated and baseless lectures in an instant with unflagging confidence in its own correctness on any topic, without concern, regard or even awareness of the level of expertise of its audience.
