Mastodon poster: The default UI here emits a painful electric shock when I click on the like button. That’s kind of bad.

Replies: you can turn off electric shocks in the advanced settings

Poster: ok, but they really should be off by default. Electric shocks are unnecessary and dangerous.

Replies: go back to Twitter if you don’t like it here.

@finn it's more terrifying in person. But the drive to Berryessa is worth it.
How about instead of persecuting trans folks we teach people that it’s fine to use soap to clean cast iron because this isn’t the 1900s anymore.

Post whatever you want (within your server's rules).
But please don't use euphemisms for things.

Maybe you did that on other sites to avoid the dogpiling based on searches of words. But there is no full-text search here, so it's not an issue.

What is does impact is those who have put up filters on specific words or phrases. So if you say Frump instead of the former president of the US, that filter won't work. Or if you say Melon instead of a certain CEO, same issue.

Just use the word. Thx.

#USPS has lost my prescriptions yet again. And again, after filing a complaint they insist they delivered it, but can't explain why it wasn't in my locked box two hours later. Thankfully my doctor was able to get me a replacement (at no cost!), but #louisdejoy can rot in hell.
"Woke mind virus" is how billionaires describe the idea that you should give even the tiniest bit of a shit about how your actions will affect other people.

@[email protected] For sure, home charging is by far the cheapest. I thought when you said "they are much more expensive per kWh" you were comparing Tesla fast chargers to other fast chargers.

I pay 2.5¢ per mile for home charging, 10¢ per mile for Tesla fast charging. Gas in my area runs about $5 a gallon, so the fast charging prices equates to a 50 mpg vehicle vs 200 mpg if I charge at home.

@[email protected] We've been an all EV family for over 5 years and I've generally found non-Tesla chargers to be more expensive per kWh. The exception is chargers run by a municipality, which I assume are either subsidized or trying to not make a profit.

I asked a librarian if she had a book about Pavlov's dog and Schrödinger's cat?

She said it rang a bell, but she wasn't sure if it was there or not.

Found this on FB. All the feels.

And whoa - turns out it's from a TikTok vid by SeaTrick aka @TrixiDelMar. I recommend you watch the video:
