But please don't use euphemisms for things.

Maybe you did that on other sites to avoid the dogpiling based on searches of words. But there is no full-text search here, so it's not an issue.

What is does impact is those who have put up filters on specific words or phrases. So if you say Frump instead of the former president of the US, that filter won't work. Or if you say Melon instead of a certain CEO, same issue.

Just use the word. Thx.

@djwfyi I've been guilty of this when it comes to... to...to...TWITTER!!!

🤮

Regardless, I get what you are saying, and you are right. It is a bad habit and it circumvents filters, which, I will admit, I hadn't thought of.

So thanks for making me reconsider.

@djwfyi you said “the other site”
@djwfyi Except there's this weird thing where everyone uses euphemisms when talking about Twitter. Oops. I said it.

@djwfyi

"Just use the word. Thx."

Just use "Thanks", Thanks. Some people want to filter out basic decency, and they should be able to do that. :P

@djwfyi
>But there is no full-text search here, so it's not an issue.

There is, Mastodon Limitations aren't universal. Heck imagine if Peertube wouldn't have full-text search.
@djwfyi Thank you for saying this. Circumventing keyword mutes is, IMO, as bad as intentionally refusing to use content warnings. You are taking a layer of protection from others, & for what?
