After my friend writer-director Liz Garcia challenged a fellow filmmaker's list of great screenplays for lacking any by women, I culled the internet and assembled this list of twenty brilliant scripts by women you can download for free and study.

... but renders the image useless for training a visual AI. The AI can't detect the artists' style, and thus can't mimic it and copy it. 🤖 ✖️

My sincere wish for all aspiring writers is that they’ll find the courage to sit their ass down and write an actual *thing*. Not a blog post about the thing. Not a review of books about the thing. Not nibbling at the edges of it, or wringing hands about how others do it.

Write your THING. It’s scary. It won’t be perfect. You get better every time, but you can’t really make progress until you jump in the damn pool.

FFS please. 😂 DO IT.

I’m rooting for you.

@ShaulaEvans How lovely that you had such a close relationship with your dad. My dad, too, passed some years ago and I miss him. But my relationship with him, as well as with my mom (who is also gone) was… not what you’d call ideal. Receiving what passed for “love” from either one of them required that I attain a level of excellence in life and their chosen career path for me that was pretty much unattainable. I’m just now unraveling it all in therapy.
@ShaulaEvans I’m listening to it now. Got it from the library, but I might buy the book if he’d read it (he’s not a big reader, but it’s worth a try).
@ShaulaEvans You’re right. It’s very stressful. Thankfully it’s only been once or twice. But even that is once or twice too much!!
@ShaulaEvans My husband and I both got Covid (even after taking every precaution) and we’re both compromised—but his health is worse than mine (he has heart failure). And yet, he’s so worried, somehow, about other people’s feelings that he will let people come into our house without wearing a mask. I shudder to think that he might be putting his health at risk. So far we’re still okay and we don’t leave the house without proper protection… but 🤷🏻‍♀️

@ShaulaEvans I read the article and it’s definitely disturbing. But we never recorded any video with our Ring camera so it wouldn’t apply. At least when we first installed it you could watch without recording. Maybe it’s changed now—we’re not installed right now.
@ShaulaEvans Can you have a Ring doorbell installed? We had one at our last place and we’ll put it in our next place. I love how I can see and interact with whoever is at the door without ever opening it. They’re supposed to be pretty easy to install. Our handyman did ours. Maybe you could order online and contract with someone to install it without having to interact directly?
