I think a lot about how to find Bad Things (tm), running for longish periods, and trying to be pretty.

I couldn't think of a better place where to take a portrait with my new, awesome @Mastodon t-shirt that reads: "I write #AltText" : the Louvre Museum, in front of the painting "The Battle of David and Goliath" by Daniele da Volterra.

And may I share an ambitious goal with you?

I want to start advocating for the Louvre Museum to join the Fediverse (they're currently on all Big Tech social platforms only). Let's see what I can do 🤗

Norway Invests Millions to Preserve Its Medieval Stave Churches

FCC Chair Carr’s Threats to Punish Broadcasters Are Unconstitutional

EFF joined other digital rights and civil liberties organizations in calling out the unconstitutionality of Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr’s recent threats to punish broadcasters for airing statements he disagrees with. Carr’s recent threats, like his past threats, are...

"The lawsuit argues that the legislation 'violates the Kansas Constitution’s protections for personal autonomy, privacy, equality under the law, due process, and freedom of speech.'

'This legislation is a direct attack on the dignity and humanity of transgender Kansans,' said Monica Bennett, Legal Director of the ACLU of Kansas. 'It undermines our state’s strong constitutional protections against government overreach and persecution.'"

‘The Scream’ View

The hillside where Edvard Munch experienced the panic attack that inspired “The Scream” offers one of the most striking evening views in Oslo.

Interestingly, this is the future that was envisioned at the second @internetsociety NDSS I attended.

Every AI company knows they're building the wrong thing.

And they can't stop.

Because the competitive structure specifically punishes anyone who slows down long enough to build the right thing.

The race is real. The destination is fake.

Everyone in AI is building the wrong thing for the same reason

Every AI founder I talk to is on an accelerating treadmill, burdened by a nagging suspicion that the entire industry is moving too fast in a direction that doesn't quite make sense, with no idea about how to get off. There is an overwhelming feeling that if everyone stopped and

Westenberg.

Mozilla wants your input. Here's mine:

Mozilla should be doing two things and two things only:

1: Building THE reference implementation web browser, and
2: Being a jugular-snapping attack dog on standards committees.
3: There is no 3.

Mozilla should have NOTHING to do with AI. Nobody wants it. Stop forcing AI into every corner of every project because your VC-brained management have completely lost the plot.

If PTSD from almost being hit by a car is being used to justify #murder, I want to see every biker and pedestrian declare open season on bad drivers.
