If I could give a 3-minute presentation to every board of every hospital in the world:
Five Simple Questions: Answer yes or no:
Does wearing a respirator protect healthcare workers from viral infections?
Do infected healthcare workers with flu, RSV, COVID and other viral illnesses infect patients?
Do nosocomial infections harm patients and impair recovery?
Does this facility's mission commit us to protect the health of those we serve?
Will we implement a masking policy immediately?
Someone I care about has been describing classic #Covid symptoms for a couple of weeks now and I’ve been participating in the “don’t even name it” delusion along with them. Because it wouldn’t do any good. In fact, it would be harmful to this relationship I value.
Just wishing them well and silently also wishing the many hours of talking about this dangerous airborne disease hadn’t fallen on so many deaf ears, far beyond this particular pair.
It feels like being an atheist at church. Which I have also been, by the way.

Nothing to sweat
I've had worse
What's the threat?

I'm tired a lot
I'm not sure why

No sick days left, and
My doc bills are mounting

Them: “You’ve chosen a hard life for yourself.”
The hard life = being an ethical, responsible person doing basic virus mitigation during prolonged high virus prevalence and advocating for clean/filtered air for everyone to breathe.
