You'd probably have to stick with Conversations or Monocles on Android, Siskin or Monal on iOS and Mac (already some differences there) Gajim in the case of Windows and some are moving towards Dino for Linux if not just using the last one.
It's a bit of a mess.
Someone around here might suggest a paid and centralized service developed by the main dev of Conversations called Quicksy, which also requires a phone number for registration. I can't recommend that.
