Sorry but the fact that I can ssh into my home computer from across the country and run a GUI app on my local computer securely, and responsively still impresses the hell out me. What's more, I could do this same trick on Windows or Mac. This is also not a new thing. X11 has been able to do this for decades.
You can keep your glossy interfaces and fancy effects, for I am quite happy in the ways of the old magic.
