Saturday night sipper.

Cadenhead's Ardnamurchan 5, Oloroso Cask. NC, NCF, 58.1% ABV.

Bags of red fruit and a touch of liquorice on the nose. Sweet, treacly mouth-coating, cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel. A slight savouriness.

Young, vibrant and delicious. 🥰

The recent annual Go! Whiskey Week at Julio's Liquors resulted in a few additions to my collection.

I really dug the flavor of Dark Arts Whiskey A Long Strange Drip, a honey-cask finished blend of sweet- and sour-mash Bourbon. A great honey flavor without being cloying. The best honey finish I've tried.

The Laphroaig 10 came with admission to the tasting with Simon Brooking, which is always a great time. A legend.

I brought a few bottles to the Cotswolds Distillery tasting, and Kerrin Egalka was kind enough to gift me the open bottle of Madeira Cask. It is always a pleasure to have Kerrin come around, and Cotswolds is doing amazing work. I hope to get over and visit the distillery at some point.

I also picked up the latest book from the always entertaining Robin Robinson. Now I just need work to calm down so I can find some down time to enjoy it.

In preparation for our recent March Hare's Twisted Tea Party, I hit our local distillery, right here in Bolton, MA - Nashoba Valley Spirits Yes, we have a distillery, and my neighbor and friend Marc Follit is their distiller.

He's created a couple of tea-infused whiskeys. The Tea Party Whiskey is their five year single malt rectified with tea. And the Bourbon Tea Party is their bourbon (duh) rectified with tea, and the addition of some orange peel. Very different profiles with the different base spirits.

Purists will probably clutch their pearls over 'flavored whiskey', but as a regular tea (iced or hot) drinker and a whiskey lover, these are right up my alley. I think they're well balanced, with the tea being a nice accent and not overwhelming. I've liked them since Marc first brought over an early sample when they were playing with the idea, and it was about time I bought the final products.

I also picked up their Stimulus Twenty 20 year American Single Malt. I had an early sample of this as well and I think it's good. You don't see a lot of 20 year old whiskey from craft distilleries.

I picked these up recently directly from Wild Turkey. A couple of Bruce's Picks ryes.

Quick thoughts?
On the nose—brown sugar, orange zest, butterscotch, cherry-forward stone fruit, and vanilla bean.

On the sip—baking spices lead (cinnamon, nutmeg), followed by honey, vanilla cream, apricot, cherry, and brown sugar.

The finish lingers with dark fruit, spiced oak, warm cinnamon, and a touch of black pepper.
