Every group chat has one person who responds to everything with a single emoji and contributes nothing else and honestly they might be the most well-adjusted person in the thread (it's not me)

Here's the bike in question. The serial number is 4034614 and the sticker says it's Reynolds 501 tubes if anyone wants to help me figure out the year/model! :-)

I got a fixie today and rode it around a little. It’s an old Peugeot steel frame with a Deda stem, narrow flat bars with wooden grips(!!), Sugino messenger cranks, Origin8 chainring, 42/15 gearing, flip-flop hub, and a front brake. Took it for a short ride and it’s a lot to get used to! I welcome tips!

I'd be so much more likely to use Python if it weren't the most common problem preventing `apt-get upgrade` from working.

I thnk I have an answer, or at least some ideas and starting places - let's see how things go at the bike co-op. In the meantime, here's a pic of the bike this was all about.

Hey bike experts: if I have a nicer wheelset with an 8-speed hub and a less nice wheelset with a 7-speed hub, and they both have 32-spoke rear wheels with Shimano hubs, is it possible to swap the freehub bodies between them? Or failing that to loosen all the spokes and swap the hubs?

I want to end up with the nicer rims fitting into my bike with 7-speed spacing in whatever is the easiest method.

Happy Christmas, war is over – if you want it.

Got a gravel bike with mechanical disc brakes and after today's ride, I'm convinced that I should upgrade to hydraulic. It has a 10-speed Tiagra 2x groupset with a 50/34T up front and 11/34t in back. Need to decide if I should go 1x, get a new groupset, or just change to Tiagra hydraulic shifters/brakes.

On the road I spend basically all my time in the big chainring, but riding on rough or wet surfaces had me spending more time in the small ring than ever, so 1x could be tempting. GRX RX717 or an equivalent SRAM groupset might be nice too.

Any recommendations from gravel folks?

it happened again, so it’s time for a reminder:

Drivers, please do not wave pedestrians and cyclists into situations on the road when they do not have the right way. I know it feels like the polite thing to do, but it is incredibly dangerous
