Here’s a poem called ‘The Caveman’s Lament’, believed to have been written around 1.5 million years ago by one of our earliest ancestors, homo unrequitus.

It is considered to be the world’s oldest surviving love poem.

Copper beard orchid (Calochilus campestris) at Wingan River, VIC. Slightly narrower flowers with less dark beard hairs than other local populations at Genoa and Mallacoota.

Does have some similarities with what is sometimes referred to as Calochilus saprophyticus (narrow flowers, basal leaf next to / not sheafing the flower stem) but this species is not recorded at this location - and flowering may be a touch early. So without digging it up to look at the rhizome I might just leave it in C. campestris for now (C.saprophyticus was once considered a form of C. campestris).

Only saw the single roadside plant here on a quick visit.

I just want her to be happy and healthy for a year or more or whatever more she’s got. I’ve decided when we say goodbye to her, she’s going to have as many hard boiled eggs as she wants. (Her fave food since she was 8 weeks old)
