This is so similar to the corona activity we saw just a month ago. What a treat to be able to witness it again.

Exactly one month to the day, we had another spectacular aurora borealis. We were fighting some clouds and freezing fog, but were still able to see this awesome site. Here's a little timelapse from some of my images taken on the shore of Lake Superior. Shortly after this I discovered by lens was coated in a thin layer of ice.

2.9 billion birds have been lost since 1970. We have altered the world in such a way that it can no longer sustain bird life. This Earth Day , let's commit to changing that. Let's work hard to bring back biodiversity. Let's make a home for the birds because in doing so, we make a better world for all of us.

Rusty Blackbirds are one of the first spring migrants in our area. Like most songbirds, the Rusty Blackbird is in steep decline, likely due to habitat loss.

What a difference a couple of warm days makes. The last couple of days, the temps have been 60 to 70 degrees. We still have some snow and ice left, but a lot of it has melted. Spring is on the way!

We noticed two peregrine falcons dive-bombing a gull in the lake. At first, we thought the gull was injured, but it turned out the gull was protecting its meal. After a closer look, we determined that the gull was eating a green-winged teal. We think one of the peregrines had killed it, and the gull actually stole it. I was a little surprised to see the peregrine back off, but it watched and waited while a couple of gulls ate their fill, and the peregrine took what was left.

A recent storm left the trees and bushes at the end of our yard coated in ice. It was so beautiful to see how the sunrise lit it up.

Daybreak over Lake Superior. It was lovely to see a little skim of ice on the lake this morning even though it is spring.
