Writing and designing and coding mostly for women in tech and Indigenous peoples. A Fediverse OG, but my followers count here on infosec.exchange turned off; I write for specific audiences, **not** to accumulate irrelevant numbers of "reactions" from an audience that includes Meta Platform Inc.'s brainrot bots.

Tesla said it was going to build a factory in #India, but has abandoned that idea due to lackluster sales.

In other words what's not said: better value for the money due to EV competition from China

Tesla launched retail sales in India in July 2025 after years of negotiation. The results have been underwhelming. The automaker sold just 225 vehicles in all of 2025, and through April 2026, cumulative sales stand at approximately 383 units โ€” far below internal expectations.

By early 2026, Tesla was already offering discounts of up to โ‚น200,000 ($2,200) to clear unsold inventory. The company recently launched a six-seat Model Y L variant in April 2026, but the pricing remains a mismatch for the Indian market, where the most popular EVs sell for a fraction of what Tesla charges.

Tesla (TSLA) officially abandons India factory after years of broken promises

Tesla confirmed it won't build a factory in India, ending years of negotiations. With only 383 vehicles sold and factories at 60% capacity, the math never worked.

EFFecting Change is where we should be in our great #infosec neural net right about now, ya?

Doctorow on a bike with wheatpasting posters? Yes, that's where it starts in the retrocausality time loom.

Discussion also includes a reference to CARDIAC, or CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation, a fantastically neat circa-1968 resource for teaching / learning or (thanks to the blog offering the schemas downloadable) #CNC machining as a reference and #computation resource.

I really like the idea of ripping out everything trying to turn #AI into a metered "utility" like that other college dropout CEO, Sam Altman wants.

Because he lacks creativity,
has an alleged bloodthirsty thirst for control
thirst to control work
he did not create and
code could never code himself,

Cory Doctorow's take is not optimistic, but, as he says "hopeful" because hope involves the idea that you/me/we/us can do things to make the change. Where optimism is the idea that things will get better no matter what.

I don't think things are going to get better no matter what, but I do agree that open is the way to be.

And so there's only one way to fix this, and it's to rip out all the unauditable, opaque
remote controlled, untrustworthy proprietary software and replace it with transparent, public, international, open public goods that everyone can see and everyone can validate and that you can run locally on servers in your own country. And I think we're closer to that than we've ever been.

Here's the one from May 5th

What the fuck are they doing over this area

Here's the one from 30th April.

This is a #LIDAR plane going over the exact same spots it went over the last several days. It's attempting to map all of #Hillsboro, #Forest Grove, North Plains.

For whom? Plane reg is outta Canada.

It took off in Troutdale.

The built-in assumption that a professor challenged his gifted student to use to prove that #quantum computing will always be "superior" to classical #computing was so bizzare that I cannot quite wrap my mind around the mistake.

Granted, I did work at #Intel for 6 years. And my last group being the AI silicon trying to help mathematicians improve their #AI model's/models' efficiency .... but I suppose my data point just goes to show that theoretical math can stray pretty far from actual machine learning and computing.

Anybody who has ever built a program that can upload a csv to a database knows this intuitively. The "cost" of a parameter-based search ought to include both load time and compute time. One can write helpers that speed-up LLMs that tend to quantize models by key terms and frequency of those key terms in a language.... and then map heavy nodes to higher-memory compute, right? This is why models with "trillions" of parameters tend to be very expensive to compile and run.

The inherent assumption that all the data in a quantum algorithm is already loaded? This seems like a #CS 101 kinda mistake.

I love this field and cannot wait to go back to work, I'm already brainstorming a whitepaper about this topic. Writing and editing whitepapers is one of the things I miss

That being said, Ewin Tang is an astoundingly smart gal, completely deserving of the awards.

N798TL: Track this airplane. Unregistered pilot doing drunk moves over the Forest Grove Water treatment facility. Which is also home to a bird sanctuary, many hawks, eagles, egrets, heron, ducks.

He took off and landed at the airstrip in North Plains.

Someone burned down the brand new 4D family and adolescent recovery campus that was almost near completion last week.

This is a tragedy for all of #Portland, #PDX Metro and all of the people who have turned the page on their lives into a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.

The group is asking for donations to help get it rebuilt as quickly as possible.

Amid all the ugliness in the world, here is a small pair of beauties nodding in the shaded forest.

Anyone know what species these are? I've never seen this coloration.
