ByteDance used TikTok to track my location β and the locations of two of my colleagues β to try to find our sources. We reported on this back in October, but kept things vague to protect sources. Today ByteDance admitted it, so we can say much more:

Well above minimum. They state continually that minimum requirements are not designed for airborne diseases. Organizations that set standards, like ASHRAE are coming up with new standards for airborne diseases because they know existing ones are not enough. 4/
We knew COVID, even Β« mild Β» COVID could cause clots, heart attacks, strokes, and ultimately death since 2020.
Seeing a lot more cases of clots in the last few weeks.

@atomicpoet Can you help me understand what supporting Mastodon does to managing incoming volume of new users? Does it support a particular instance? Mastodon as a platform seems ready to handle the users, and donating to it seems like it would support ongoing platform development, rather than sudden demand on a particular instance.
Should people instead be supporting the instances that are facing the greatest increase in load?
