Few people, if any, know more about the effects of social media on youth than danah

"To be honest, I am pulling my hair out over “online safety” bills that pretend to be focused on helping young people when they’re really anti-tech bills that are using children for political agendas in ways that will fundamentally hurt the most vulnerable young people out there."

Today is the anniversary of the day Donald Trump incited an insurrection to overthrow the government that included a coordinated attack on the U.S. Capitol aimed at killing elected leaders and thwarting the transition of power.

Many Republicans deny these facts. Never forget.

Trying again. :)

I co-teach a class on product management to undergrads in the spring. Last year our total AI chatbot policy was "if you use it, cite it!" ... and some did, and definitely didn't.
This year we've attempted to completely revamp the curriculum to encourage students to learn how to use these tools so that there's no temptation to "cheat".
Anyone else here in a similar boat? Let's share ideas and outcomes! What's working for you???

Model Shereen Wu is alleging that ex-Project Runway star, Michael Costello, has used #AI to change her face in a #fashion show picture. This incident has sparked debates about the increasing use of #artificialintelligence in the fashion industry.

“I expected to be paid in exposure,” she said. “But I didn’t get exposure, because this is an edited photo. By cutting off my head, neither did the makeup artist, hairdresser or photographer. That’s what peeves me so much.”

Social media isn't dying.

It's turning into broadcast media.

"Faltesek, of Oregon State University, conducted a two-year project to study exactly what kind of content TikTok pushes.

At the end of this exhaustive process of gathering data on TikTok’s algorithm, the conclusion became obvious: 'TikTok is television.'"

I was feeling silly so I did a thing.

You're welcome and/or I'm sorry, internet.

There are three main types of stroopwafels.

Igneous, the most common, are formed by melting a sticky filling and pouring it between two waffles.

Sedimentary stroopwafels are commonly encountered at the bottom of a large container of igneous stroopwafels.

The rarest form is the metamorphic stroopwafel, formed by subjecting igneous and/or sedimentary stroopwafels to extremes of heat and pressure until they fuse together.

Every single hotel manager, regardless of gender, should be required to put on a full face of makeup in their own hotel room at 7 AM. It is amazing to me how many hip hotels use mood lighting that makes it all but impossible to put on makeup.

Just about the only time I put on a whole pile of makeup is when I am on the road, and about to give a speech, and half the time all the hotel room mirror can tell me is that I still have two eyes and a mouth. Probably? I am really just guessing.
