ODE TO A RICH TEA, a #poem
This biscuit of choice,
this gentle Rich Tea,
derided by many,
lauded by me,
darker where into
the hot brew you've sunk,
yet bravely still holding
your form from the dunk.
You're no Biscuit King,
you're the bloke in the street.
No fancy bits, made of
barley and wheat
No chocolate, no nuts,
no hob and no nob.
Now get in my brew,
then get in my gob.
I don’t think I ever really did an #introduction post, but as there seems to be a bit of an influx at the moment…
I’m CurlyParakeet (name based from a GitHub project name generator suggestion). I work in STEM.
I love to make things! Lots of yarn and fibre based projects (#crochet and #weaving make up the majority of this). I also love #printing and #linocut
Also, I don’t boost if the images don’t have alt text - please remember to add it so I can share things!
Anyway, here's a rather special recent wildlife encounter - a Little Owl, also known as the Owl of Athena (it's Athene noctua in the Latin).
They're one of the more day flying owls, small at ca 22cm, and eat moths and invertebrates probably more than vertebrate prey. They've only been in England since the c19th but were widespread on the continent throughout history. And, well, also they're adorable. This one was pretty good about being photographed!
Finished! #reynaKal

Making progress on my modified #ReynaKAL shawl. The rows are getting really long with this alternate shaping. I’m quite happy with the shape combined with the pattern.
I’ve just gotten past the third mesh stripe; I think I’ll have enough yarn to get through the fourth, but I think that’s about when I’ll need to think about whether I’m going to add my similar skein of yarn or not.
