“Americans are very lucky, because wherever they go to bring freedom… they find oil.”

— Italian journalist and satirist Michele Serra

Applicable to "modern" IT as well: "Some things are very simple. But to avoid looking stupid, we make things complicated." #tearoffcalendar

The US super power suicide continues:

Today, the government of Denmark announced that Denmark along with 7 other EU nations is joining the French nuclear deterrence, which means Danish troops will take part in European nuclear exercises, and potentially, Danish F-35 fighter jets may be made capable of delivering French nuclear weapons.

The eight European nations joining the French nuclear deterrence are Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, Belgium and Denmark.

Isn't it crazy that Israel have the technology to kill Khamenei on any random weekend, yet when it comes to 'taking out Hamas leaders they were "forced to bomb children?

When the war in Ukraine broke out, and Europe was hesitant in the first year, I thought alright, this is a surprise to everyone and of course we need time to prepare.

Now 4 years have passed, and we are 450 million EU and 69 million UK citizens still standing on the sidelines, telling 38 million Ukrainians they should fight 133 million Russians on their own.

We could end this war. Instead we keep pretending that it is fine to let Ukraine take all the punches.

I find that profoundly shameful.

Yet another day of screaming at digital enshitiffication:

1. My coworkers and I are in a car driving to FOSDEM.
2. We pull up to charge the car.
3. Charging station REQUIRES you to use an app, no option to just pay with a card.
4. We try to install the stupid app. We carry phones running:
- GrapheneOS
- GrapheneOS
- GrapheneOS
- LineageOS, postmarketOS, iOS
5. Neither of our phones meet requirements to install the stupid app (Play Integrity API).
6. My iPhone can't install the app, because it's "Not available in your country".
7. We give up and drive to another charging station.

This is NOT how you introduce applications, "Circle K"
