Historically that has always been the case. The one notable exception is the First World War in the West (the Western Front).

War is almost always worse for the civilians.

Holding Israel up to the truth is a pointless exercise. They are murdering their neighbours in large numbers under the pretext of defending themselves. The assassination of Khomenei was as illegal as bombing babies in Gaza. And no one is making any attempt to stop them.
