@davidbisset @asci PHP is becoming like COBOL and Java and C.

Not sexy, but staple on IT

Let us see if/how many time will take for Node/Rust/Go become staple

Are there any company that you know of that hires fullstack tech lead?
I'm in desperate need of a new mission, as I'm digging more and more in my savings 😬

This looks suspiciously similar to azjezz/psl, just with a different API. It even has the same name: PHP Standard Library.

The PHP community would be better if devs worked together instead of copying and re-branding someone else's work. Credit to azjezz for the original PSL.

@evert @Skoop @heiglandreas @ramsey It’s not. Netherlands has an amazing PHP community and people love going to the UG’s, also for the social bit.

But the reputation of PHP in general is similar. The salaries are lower and the jobs are fewer.

That said, I *still* think we can turn this around.

The reputation for some frameworks are positively growing.

People don’t think “PHP” anymore, they think “laravel” or “symfony” or “drupal”. Etc.

The reality of it is that if you feel your job is threatened by AI, you are not executing to the full potential of your role.

Being a coder has never been only about code. It's about people, systems and interpreting inputs of various shapes.

So... there is this company, VC financed, 50 of them. I was part of a company, it was 4 of us, running a similar size business.

One of the two companies does/did something wrong....

To my friends doing #php work and seeing criticism in 2024 — they hate us cuz they ain’t us. The web’s best ball-of-nails continues to be one of the best options available

Microsoft's Copilot button is a shining example of the form factor trap.

Who remembers when Siri came out and voice assistants were the future of computing? Samsung built a physical Bixby key into their phones (and went through massive pains to prevent users from disabling it). Microsoft had a dedicated Cortana button ship pinned to Windows 8's dock. Google Assistant was a default Android homescreen.
