First, I took a paintbrush with me to the doctor's office so that the cast could be molded around my hand holding the brush. That way I could still paint large areas with that hand. Then I relearned how to paint with my left hand. Although I am not ambidextrous, I had done some left-handed artwork before and I managed. 2/5

New instance, new #introduction !

Hi #fediverse ! We’re the European Southern Observatory, and we design, build and operate ground-based telescopes.

One of them is our Extremely Large Telescope, currently under construction in #Chile. It will have a 39 m mirror, and its rotating enclosure will weigh 6100 tonnes, or about 700 mastodons!

We’re looking forward to chatting with all of you about #astronomy

Ich hab mich auf den #bibliocon25 Beitrag von @SemAntiKast zur klima- und sozialverträglichen Nutzung von #KI gefreut: Die Auswirkungen werden sehr gut nachvollziehbar gemacht: Fürs Generieren einer 100-Wort-Mail könnte das eigene Smartphone 7x geladen werden. Eine Unterhaltung mit einem KI-Chatbot verbraucht schnell 2 Liter Wasser. Natürlich zahlen wir auch persönlich mit Daten und Privatsphäre. Also: Eigene KI-Nutzung reflektieren und als #Bibliothek fürs Thema sensibilisieren.
