Hi! As I understand it, mastodon.art is limiting mastodon.social. I don't want to discuss whether this should/should not have happened (no idea, haven't researched), but it does cause me a problem:

I'm really interested in art & hoped joining a bigger instance would expose me to more art & other interesting things. Looks like it won't have that effect.

So, I'm going to re-follow people from other instances of me (also called ginevra) & then close this account.

ooo! I can use translate! (on the web client)
I must say, that even in the last few days since I joined Mastodon I’ve seen a culture shift - more #politics, more ‘hot takes’, less discussion, fewer #CWs, less #AltText. I hope it’s a blip and urge newbies like me not to unwittingly play out the #coloniser #stereotypes and ride roughshod over the existing culture. It’s a lovely, gentle, curious #community here, would be awful to ruin it because we’re conditioned to something worse.
The parts of my life that were lived offline, pre-social media or pre-internet:
- exchange student in Tokyo
- parenting
- #gardening & food forests
- garment #sewing
- technology law (Australia)
- foreign languages
- #RPG s, #LARP s (we called them freeforms)
- #puppetry
Still interested in the things I have not hashtagged, but I have learnt to be strategic & sceptical on those topics.

Looking back over the layers of my life, as shown digitally:
- #boardgames & women in that industry
- public health news from 2020 onwards
- extremism research/studies
- arts funding
- startups & tech
- community organising & social change
- #makerspaces
- #knitting & #quilting
- high fashion
- local #Sydney people
- cut & sew #manufacturing

I guess #TwitterMigration is a topic a lot of people are thinking about. I'm not going to leave it, until I have to. As someone who doesn't see enough people like them in public life, I value being in the biggest, most public space possible. But I think I'll bring some of the Mastodon feel to Twitter in being more personal and responsive there
Tabs recently opened in browser (so you can see what is in my interests/thoughts):
- #netrunner CCG
- #FABTCG
- top 10 LGBT visual artists (school assignment help, not that I'm not interested, too)
- #wool for spinning
- learn Cantonese (haven't progressed)
- wacom drivers for MacOS
- office chairs
- public investment (Aus Bureau of Statistics)
- a twitter thread about radicalisation
Re newbies/ #TwitterTakeover I'd love a webclient that does both Mastodon & Twitter. I know! Bad! Ungrateful! Still want it, tho ... like tweetdeck (which is still chronological, y'know)
