I'm almost done rewriting my #gameboy VWF (Variable-Width Font, i.e. proportionally-sized text) engine!
It still features automatic line-wrapping, like the original version, but it's been rewritten to be much cleaner, much faster, and much less a PITA to use 😅​

Soon™, a fleshed-out demo ROM, a manual, and a non-truncated "W" glyph... 😵​

Mikage: A 3DS emulator for PC & Android

Fixed an interesting bug w/GBE+'s Pokemon Mini emulation the other day. Currently writing a new book and need to play all of the games for this system. Pinball Mini had one level that was humanly impossible to complete, or so I thought.

Turns out the emulated CPU was handling wraparound binary-coded decimals incorrectly, causing the in-game timers to run 2x!

That's what I get for mixing up Python and C++'s behavior for the % operator when it comes to negative numbers...

I don't like the GB soundchip much for its ugly base waveforms… but holy moly this soundtrack by AceMan is soo unbelievable unreachable 1337, I can't get my door closed, it's so huge!!!
Very very well done and it is supporting the demo perfectly - it's making the flow just flow more.

@wilder Going well overall! Here's a recent gif cap of some of the progress. It's called Purls of Magic and centres on a fibre witch atoning for casting a horrible spell on an enchanted yarn shop. 😄🧶

Lots of prototyping and tile / sprite work is done, currently head-down working on platformer level designs and writing dialogue before I go back into GB Studio.

My Mastodon pal @nash is collaborating with me for the soundtrack too, which is a huge weight off my shoulders! ❤️❤️

Added customer cycling, customer patience, eating, payment, and anger.

I'm not sure sure what everyone else's experience is, but I'm finding it kind of hard to keep the script bloat down with GB studio. I guess it's just the medium.

I'm thinking I'll need to replace emotes with sprite states or pallete swaps.
