It's quite damning that the folks behind the #BrowserGate investigation about #LinkedIn's hidden browser extensions scanning programme have opted to sue #Microsoft in court for #DMA infringement rather than submitting a complaint for public enforcement to the @EUCommission.

It looks like they have little trust in the EU Commission to do that job quickly and effectively enough. 🤷‍♂️

The @EUCommission announced it is exploring a new EU-US “dialogue” on digital rules, as Washington piles on the pressure over how the EU enforces its tech laws.

“If confirmed, this is nothing short of complete capitulation to the #Trump admin’s coercive tactics,” said #Greens MEP @SLagodinsky.

“No need to do this,” said liberal MEP Sandro Gozi. “The Commission must implement the #DSA + #DMA, not discuss them with the US. It’s a clear attempt to slow down implementation and weaken enforcement.”

Hey @euronews you might wanna re-think your approach to journalism and maybe not publish #lobbying shit from hidden #BigTech shell orgs that've been built to mislead people into thinking they're about consumer rights.

"EU Tech Loop is an independent blog launched in 2024, powered by Consumer Choice Center Europe."

Consumer Choice Center Europe: brought to you from Virginia, USA, by #Google, #Meta, and other unnamed "corporations, individuals, and foundations."

USA bans all new routers for consumers

The USA will only allow routers manufactured in the country for consumers from now on. However, such models do not exist.

At least there was one good #privacy move by EU regulators last week:

Europe’s privacy regulators have “significant concerns” about #Washington’s plans to hoover up more data about European travelers, they said in a letter sent to the @EUCommission this week.

The #EDPB asked the Commission if it plans to “take any action” over a US proposal to review Europeans’ social media and #PersonalData when they apply for #visa-free travel to the US.

What I don’t get is how this snippet passed code review regardless.

I mean, it’s clearly dodgy and the last line basically meaningless without the code being evaluated.

The real story here isn’t the invisible Unicode characters, it’s the lack of proper code review on code submissions.

Just wanted to share my satisfaction about a new complaint against #Youtube for breach of the #DigitalServicesAct that I have authored & submitted this week to the Belgian regulator (b/c that's where @edri is based).

Within only a few hours, the BE regulator #BIPT has forwarded it to their Irish colleagues at Coimisiún na Meán (#CNAM) as per procedure. The @EUCommission is aware as well, so let's cross fingers for speedy enforcement!

In a significant win for smaller browsers, the open web, and the 🇪🇺EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), Google has agreed to place the browser selected through the EU browser choice screen directly in the Pixel homescreen hotseat (replacing Chrome).
