@chasethebase So, I have a few recommendations on some folks to consider that I think give me a reason to log on and converse, but also post some really interesting things in the realm of boardgames, wargames, train games, heavy games, or decision theory in general.
Note, since I'm pinging a bunch of people, you (well, everyone) will likely want to trim what accounts get hit when replying (otherwise it turns into one of those bad company-wide reply all storms). Now onto the list:
@iain and I chat about a bunch of games. We share an interest in esoteric games and stuff off the beaten path. They chat (and I join in on many occasion) with
@Simpike and
@CTD who both play boardgames. Adding in
@lordsplodge and I think those are all of the folks I am aware of in the UK.
There a bunch on the
wargamers.social instance that I keep track of and chat it.
@Pete runs that instance and curates some information regarding who is on the fediverse.
@RomeDemandsStone @FredKiesche @koboldcurrychef and
@ardwulf are great folks and if you have a translation option handy, then
@enumura posts some fantastic content from Japan. Likewise, while not on that instance,
@PSchweig86 and
@petrmojzis have both led to great conversations about gaming and wargaming specifically.
over on
tabletop.vip which
@kennon runs has
@BoardGameBloke who does a great job of euro/consim coverage out of SoCal and I look forward to both folks and their posts/conversation.
@host runs the instance I started on. There are great folks over there that you should check out like
@ofdiceandmen @tabletopgamesblog @harperrob and
@mattthr have had great things to say and have posted insights I found valuable. Host may have some other recommendations as well in that area.
@Rikaru @drewww and
@jcl are some excellent and wise folks who also interact with gaming in the design and heavier space, and I'm glad they continue to post and use the fediverse.
No recommendation thread would be complete without my EU homies (who all understand my English posts IIRC, but often post in their native language):
@docteurslump @nazebroque and
@acariatre help me keep abreast of what the French j2s scene is engaging in.
@Suzan and
@eerko are the makers of BG Stats and have the most thorough analysis/experience of Ark Nova I've ever seen.
@gamesbymanuel is Portuguese and is even a tabletop/digital game designer.
@Fearteiler @drbillbongo @jerk and
@darkpact @azrael2k and
@DiceW3rwolf are all German IIRC and also play/post about a range games. @petr I've had some really interesting game nuance discussions with all of these folks.
I don't *typically* use the
#boardgames or
#boardgame hashtags with my game playing posts purely because so much of what I post is applicable to that and it would turn into just spamming/flooding them. So I figure if people are interested in that, they can follow, and if not, no worries.
My apologies to anyone that I forgot while pounding this out (off the top of my head), but that should get you started. Best of luck.
edit: fixed a couple of typos and corrections.
