I said a lot of this just yesterday before the news, but I'm prone to repeating myself, and I hear some Googlers might need some help.

For those impacted at Google, we are hiring Android and system devs at OSOM. 100% remote, good pay/benefits, low-stress/low-toxicity environment, salary listed for all roles. If you do systems with BSP experience, we *really* want to talk to you.

SILENCE BREAKERS DO SACRED WORK

Now let’s create a world that enables survivors to get care, loving support & justice without having to do the exhausting emotional labor of putting themselves all the way out there (because definitely now nothing happens if they don’t).

I was just laid off. I am a senior / staff-level iOS engineer looking for a new remote role in USA.

Please don’t confuse what is legal with what is right. There is some overlap, of course, but not as much as one might think. Laws are generally written by the rich and powerful to protect their interests, often at the expense of the poor and weak. Many atrocities are lawful, and many acts of mercy are unlawful. I say this as an attorney.

Equity v Equality

Equality is often posited as the goal, the fix, the way to be fair to everyone. But equality gives everyone the same thing. And everyone is not the same, everyone doesn't start with the same, or think the same, or learn the same. Equality is inherently problematic. Especially when you consider training and learning.

Equity understands that everyone is different and has a different beginning, a different way of thinking, of learning, of reaching their potential. Equity seeks to give everyone what they need to achieve the goal. It gives more to those that need it and less to those that don't. It seeks to provide everyone the same chance to achieve a goal, to meet an objective, to pass a course. Equity involves treating people as individuals, not cogs, and offering them the relevant support to achieve and succeed.

Equity should always be the goal rather than equality. Equity supports everyone and, done right, it supports positively and without shame.

Choose equity.

@riggaroo I had a recruiter with a job for a dental app where they analyse pictures of your teeth virtually, like what good is that? If you have a toothache, it's not much help 😅

I was delighted to be invited back onto NdGT's podcast, Startalk. This time, the topic was ice ❄️🧊 If the episode leaves you wanting more, you'll find lots of detail in Chapter 7 of Sticky! https://youtu.be/Zm3Ef-i-Mpk

@AnaStanescu22 that sounds pretty bad, is it like that all year round?
