@MCDuncanLab interesting! We def made the switch to EtOH but did not know you can remove everything!

PSA for #westernblots

Did you know you can often leave out the methanol and SDS and get an excellent transfer?

Our recipe for 4 liters of 10 x is 560g Glycine, 120g Tris Base.

We transfer at 0.5mA for 30 min for most proteins 40 for >150kDa in a biorad rig.

We use an ice block but no stir bar. It gets hot so don't go longer than 40 min.

#MembraneTrafficking seminars are back in 2024! Join Felix Campelo, Ishier Raote and me next week for two exciting talks. Looking forward to seeing all you membrane enthusiasts again!

@MCDuncanLab @JCellBiol thank you!!! So nice to finally see the fruit of the hard work of my first PhD student after 2 babies and a pandemic 🥹 he (and all the others who supported!) did such an amazing job
A tour the force of #geneediting and #STED. We have followed up on some of these findings and have 2 papers that will drop soon! looking at endogenous proteins at high resolution in their own unperturbed cellular environment is helping to reveal important trafficking mechanisms!

Autolysosomal exocytosis of lipids protect neurons from ferroptosis

Ralhan et al. show that neurons release peroxidated lipids and iron as lipid-rich particles by autolysosomal exocytosis during oxidative stress. This protects n
