Long time no see Mastodon! Back on here to advertise myself and Mike Cook are co-organising the first Games and Archaeological Play (GAP) Workshop at FDG! The aim of the workshop is to bring together a broad range of researchers and practitioners who are interested in archaeology and games, from interpretive mechanics, puzzle design, games and play preservation, to reception studies, code archaeology and field studies. Let's bridge the gap between archaeology, game studies and HCI.

Short papers due April 5th, zines due June 10th!

Player Responses to Generative Archaeology Games: Participant Survey

Thank you for your interest in our study! This form has three parts. In the first, if you are happy to, you will provide your consent to take part in the study and for us to collect your responses. In the second, we'll ask you to play a short videogame that will also anonymously collect data relating to your time spent in the game, how you moved through the game space and what you interacted with. This data will be linked with your survey responses via a code that you will input in the survey form. In the third, we'll ask some questions about your experience with the game. If you have any questions or concerns, please email: [email protected] This study has been cleared by King's College London's research review board. Ethical review reference number:MRA-22/23-35186 Form Date: 20/01/2022

Hello #gamedev folks! I'm a video games researcher at the University of York in the UK, researching how people experience failure in games (especially story-driven ones), and how we can explore design strategies around it. Also recently started making games in my spare time and hoping to make more. I'm new to Mastodon and very much looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to in this community! πŸŽ‰
