@meluzzy @mudkip If it's making a sound, they're trying to better understand the shape or origin of the sound!
Most animals don't have 3 dimensional positional hearing like we do! They only can tell sound origins laterally (right to left), so they tilt their heads to figure out if the sound is coming from above or below the identified lateral source.
@mudkip I do this too, when I’m thinking about something that is unfamiliar. Yes, it helps.
