The family was talking over dinner about the mass migration of people (like me) from Twitter to Mastodon, and the cultural effect that that is already having on the fediverse. We tried likening it to an ecological event but settled on "colonisation" as the better description.

To the colonisers (like me), please be gentle. Look around. Listen. We're all guests here, even the old hands. When I arrived a week ago people were warm and welcoming. (People still are.) It was nice. Let's not trash this.
