Is the new McCarthy novel completely absurd and inaccessible or am I missing something? I adore McCarthy. But I am nearly halfway through and s t r u g g l i n g. #amreading #CormacMcCarthy #bookstodon

This #FlashFiction #Story is called The Boy Who Carried Fire and is the first thing I ever had published. It's special to me, because I wrote it during a time when I was working with refugees in Athens and hearing so many heartbreaking stories. I was broken by their pain, and I just could not make sense of how they endured it. How humans in general can endure so much suffering. What stories of yours are most special to you? I would absolutely love to read and boost.

Gone Lawn 20 : Evan Anderson

@emanderson I loved this story. You make panic and blackholes so palpable. The last paragraph, too, the last line: perfect.

If you want to read one of mine, here’s a flash from a little while back in New World Writing: “Teenage Boy in Polaroids”: https://newworldwriting.net/wyatt-bonikowski-teenage-boy-in-polaroids/

Wyatt Bonikowski ~ Teenage Boy in Polaroids

The teenage boy drove a black Trans Am with an eagle on the hood. He was friends with my babysitter Rita and her friends, and she would invite them over to drink beers and blast David Bowie and T. …

1 year ago I was not a #cat person. At all. Today I put down a blanket on my lap so my man Ziggy will be comfy because it's chilly and he likes to sleep in my lap while I work. It's been a journey but goddam I love this fluffy little weirdo.
Ways to help a writer:
-buy their book
-review their book
-construct a diorama based off a scene in their book
-juggle copies of their book at a haunted circus
-feed their book to a cosmic bookworm with a billion teeth
-read their book aloud to a basement of faceless mannequins

Hello! I'm new here so I figured I should do an #introduction

I'm Ann, a short story writer and amateur woodworker. My stories have appeared in Clarkesworld, Escape Pod, Fireside, Apparition Lit, and Mermaids Monthly, and other places. I write about culinary adventures, queer yearning, and a smidge of body horror/joy. I attended Viable Paradise in 2019.

I've got a huge fluffy great pyrenees dog, a small garden, and a kitchen that's just the right size.

How many #writers out there also have full time 9-5ish non-writing jobs? I'd love to connect with some of you and talk about your process on writing, networking, submitting, staying sane and present in your daily life, etc. 🙃

My 1st book is Splendid Anatomies, a story collection about the ways people strive to claim their own bodies.

I write fairy tales, ghost stories, flash, speculative & weird fiction, essays on TV & culture, & a column on the craft of writing. I teach online writing classes.

I'm here for the conversations!

Splendid Anatomies is a short story collection by Allison Wyss that is published by Veliz Books and available March 2022.

For the first time in a long time, I'm exploring unique forms of structure in my #FlashFiction. It's resulting some ideas I'm pretty excited about. Anyone out there have a favorite #MicroFiction or flash piece that uses form and structure in really unique or impactful ways?
Sometimes I forget why #RayBradbury was my first literary love. And then I reread a favorite and fall in love all over again. #reading #amreading #horror
