Manic day here, so no time for a full analysis of the European Sleeper to run Paris-Berlin night trains from Spring 2026, so this quick thread will have to do

Important point: I think the chances this happens are GOOD, upwards of 80%

Chances it can’t launch in spring and start is delayed is higher than it not happening at all

Seit heute ist klar: Die Schweiz fördert einen Nachtzug von Basel über Kopenhagen nach Malmö. Was bisher bekannt ist.

Every time again the best thing about riding a #nighttrain : Waking up in another country, a different landscape on view, enjoying breakfast during quiet and smooth remaining hours until arriving at the destination.

@electricmonk The idea for the trip was born based on a blog post by the best German train travel blog there is, @zugpost by @sebwilken .
Thanks to that my daughter is expecting owl-themed linen on the night train from Turku to Rovaniemi (as seen here: https://zugpost.org/nachtzug-lappland/). Hope they’ll deliver ;).
Will be good to be in Turku again, studied there on Erasmus 21 years ago.

#nighttrain -life again! On my way with the family on the first announced-as-cancelled than reinstated EN 346 from Berlin to Stockholm. This time residing in a quite luxurious private sleeping cabin. With a shower! Never showered on a train before, wondering if I should try it. The idea seems quite absurd…
The ride is part of a trip all the way to Lapland, including the Santa Claus Express by VR. Looking forward to 2m-beds, will only believe it when lying in them.

Vorerst gerettet: Nach dem Ausstieg der Schwedischen Bahn wird RDC Deutschland den EuroNight #Nachtzug von Berlin nach Stockholm in eigener Regie weiterbetreiben. Der Fahrplan allerdings wird ausgedünnt. Im Gespräch ist, 50 Prozent der bisherigen Verkehrstage zu erhalten.

Privater Anbieter übernimmt Nachtzug Berlin-Stockholm ab Sommer 2026

Zwei Nachtzuglinien gibt es von Berlin nach Schweden, die eine schien bald Geschichte - doch nach dem Ausstieg der schwedischen Staatsbahn übernimmt nun ein Privatanbieter. Fraglich ist, ob er ohne staatliche Zuschüsse Geld verdienen kann.

I‘m sat here musing about why Eurostar can’t conclude a €2bn investment in 50 new trains. Were it done it’d be a major step forward for thousands of passengers making millions of #CrossChannelRail trips.

And meanwhile OpenAI has a $1.5tn investment plan and no discernible business model.

€2bn. Both a drop in the ocean, and too much, simultaneously.
