* Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS server is up and running.
* Docker up and running.
* Syncthing up and running via Docker.
Now, off to physical therapy for correction of my self-induced folly, and then off to work.
Tonight I'll continue configuring the home server. Mostly this means reading up more on Docker-Compose, Docker itself, and figuring out how all this actually works, gets updated, etc. The whole container thing is fairly new to me, as a hobbyist.
Tomorrow night I'll install Ubuntu server edition for my home server that will be built from a repurposed laptop.
I'm not sure what all it will be doing, just yet. I figure it'll be running an always on syncthing instance and pi-hole, for sure.
What are some other cool things that I should get setup on it?

You just can't over state how much these gentleman have done for the #Linux community.
Someone smarter than me will probably say that I should have used a container since I'm on an immutable OS, but once I realized you could install Ruby via brew, and since I'm not a developer, but rather a ham-fisted hack that just wants to play, that was good enough for my purposes 😂
Even "doing" was a simple "brew-gem install doing" to get it up and running.
So, I can have my favorite toys AND I just updated my OS this morning and nothing blew up.
It's like magic.
So, I have an interest in writing CLI applications in Ruby. It seems a good use for it, little single-purpose apps to do various linuxy things. It satisfies the need to learn and play, and makes me smile when something actually works.
I setup Bluefin so I could play around with Ruby, and in doing so started reading up on what others had done in this area.
I discovered "Doing" this morning, and isn't that just the neatest thing little thing.
I installed Fedora Silverblue 42 Beta on my smaller "all Intel" laptop. Bluefin is still on my desktop replacement laptop, error free.
I might be an oddball in that I wanted to play around with Silverblue's beta, as I've never used Silverblue. I started with Bluefin and I'm working backwards (or maybe laterally) :D
I like it. Thankfully there's no need for layering on this machine. Install was easy, though it did crash while creating my user. Betas :D
Well, there’s an app I just downloaded on my Fire TV Cube called Veeps. All access pass bought.
50 minutes till the the Drop Kick Murphys concert.
I put in a few hours of effort today to figure out lightning wallets, what the heck a satoshi is, podcast 2.0 apps, and a few other things, just to send a "Boost" to my favorite Linux podcast.
I did learn a bit, including how to run and interact with a container on Bluefin.
That said, I wasn't really looking to learn, I was just trying to give someone some cash in return for maybe reading a blurb that I sent in 😂
I'm set now though. Sheesh.
So, after a week of living with Project Bluefin on two machines, I think I'm ready for another week of living with Project Bluefin on two machines.
It's been simply flawless.
I've been trying out file sync solutions and though there's an awful lot to love about Nextcloud, I have determined that Syncthing is really all I need for my purposes around the house, between my iPhone and a couple of laptops.
