I DON'T WANT SELF DRIVING CARS!!!!
✔️ I want boring things like public transit that comes so regularly I don't need to check a schedule.
✔️ I want fast passenger rail so accessible and easy it's preferable to suffering airports.
✔️ I want cities that aren't built around cars-as-default
✔️ I want the country to own it.
There should be a movie theater chain that just screens classic movies, especially in weeks like this when there aren’t any good kid-friendly movies.
Screen Star Wars and Back to the Future and Goonies and Beetlejuice etc etc. How can this not work?
THIS IS VERY INTERESTING: “12 Ways to Reduce Cars In Cities” that have ALREADY WORKED, ranked by effectiveness, identified from nearly 800 research papers. Via @TheConversationUS. What do you think, Tweeps? In my experience, what works and doesn’t depends A LOT on the context and details of the specific case studies…

Why the U.S. Is Losing the Fight to Ban Toxic Chemicals
--
The flaws of the American chemical regulatory apparatus run deeper than funding shortfalls or the decisions of the last presidential administration.
ProPublica spoke with #environmental experts around the world and delved into a half century of #legislation, #lawsuits, #EPA documents, oral histories, #chemical databases and global #regulatory records to construct a blueprint of a failed system.
If you missed CalBEM 2022, videos are up! If you like demand-side energy modeling, this is a treasure trove for you.

More hard questions being asked -- What about carbon emissions from energy used in existing buildings? What movement is there on this front, and will it be enough?
The panel on Embodied Carbon Modeling was awesome -- How does saving carbon today during construction stack up against saving future carbon via operations? What tools are available now for doing this work? What the heck even is it, exactly? No matter your familiarity, I think you'll like this one.
