I have a bit of a weird question for #godot #Godot4 #godotengine

I'd like to light an environment with a single shadow casting realtime directional light, and baked lightmaps. That's easy. The tricky part is I'd like the directional light to cast shadows that are unaffected by the baked lightmaps, i.e they remain pitch black even in areas illuminated by baked lighting. Any ideas on how I might do that?

I've been messing with a prototype in Godot that features hundreds of enemies being rendered and performing AI tasks onscreen at once, and a bunch of particles going off at once, and a bunch of physics props, and everything casting shadows, and I'm getting concerned because I haven't run into any performance issues. Like, something feels very wrong, because every dev instinct I have is telling me I should be seeing performance issues, and I'm not.

When is the other shoe going to drop lol

Yup Terrain3d seemed best from what I saw but I wanted to make sure 👍

Anyone have recommendations for what workflow or tool to use for making terrain in Godot?
