The idea that one should be forced to verify one's age or identity to use one's own computer absolutely baffles me.

In general, I think Codeberg stands for a future in which people are a lot more suspicious of free goodies given to the FOSS community by for-profit companies.

But it also stands for a world in which self-hosting is not the only practical alternative to the present situation. We stand for community-run infrastructure, volunteering to provide a common good, and making decisions for the benefit of all.

I don't know why these pelicans made me laugh so much. They just look so serious. Like what could a pelican possibly have going on to be so serious about? Fish snacks? More fish snacks?
In this year of 2026 if you absolutely have to run your mobile, international event in America - and you choose to run it in Texas, Tennessee, or Florida, that is certainly a choice that reflects which of your members or employees you see as human.

It was miserably hot in the cabin this afternoon, even with heat pump A/C and a fan.The high of 84º F tied a record.

A couple hours ago, gray clouds moved in, the temp dropped quickly and I could see through the window there was a breeze.

Stepped onto the porch and it was lovely! Turned the A/C off, opened the windows and door, and sat out there with Charlene, enjoying the breeze.

#CharleneTheCat loved sitting outside and wandered, came back and wandered some more.

This was 7:15 PM.

Firefox has been able to display PDFs for nearly 15 years but it's taken me until today to realise there's probably a setting to control the default zoom level.

In about:config it's called "pdfjs.defaultZoomValue" and "page-width" is the setting I've been choosing manually this whole damn time.

@neoluddite @liamvhogan humanity's precarious enough right now without turning the crows against us
It might be the most annoying thing in the world, but Baby Shark is undoing all the species image damage that Jaws did. It's conservationally good.

Recently I've been asked to rate my experience of:

- A delivery of zero items
- A tree taking down a power line
- Providing a urine sample
