One of the funny things that happened in my assessment yesterday was I was asked quite a lot of questions about my mental health generally. To which I responded - how is anyone supposed to feel tethered or sane at the same time as accepting all of the horrors. Love Island and dead children. McDonald's and starvation. Parking fines and tax loopholes for the megarich. World leaders flying in private jets to talk about the planet being on fucking fire. How is anyone supposed to walk the line of sanity and just accept that. Oil spills devastating wildlife and billions of cows and chickens being murdered and eaten and fake customer service pleasantries and landfill and sweatshops and footballer salaries and violent crime by desperate people and the new face of Estee Lauder and TikTok influencers and the John Lewis Christmas advert and the Westboro Baptists and deforestation and superyachts and celebrities in space and genocide. Oasis ticket prices, Ariana Grande and Andrew Tate and Donald Trump.

Oh yeah I feel great. All perfectly normal. Seems totally fine. Happy healthy way for us all to live in harmony. Surrounded by atrocity and violence and hatred and greed, being told to cheer up and have we thought of mindfulness?

It is a totally stupid question. My question is how is anyone OK? Surely everyone is at maximum? Noone can be surviving this unscathed. I am sure that if anyone out there is happily just getting on with their life they are a) actually insane or b) deeply deeply disconnected. Welp another day another bunch of dead kids.
