Technology, LEGO, Linux, retro gaming and beer, preferably all at the same time, and not necessarily in that order. Creator of Ansible-NAS, evangelist of all things automation, and measuring how automated the automation is. Bloody love an Oxford comma.

#virgin 500mbit #broadband vs. #BT 900mbit full fibre #fttp. Decent #latency improvement!
I don’t understand the attraction of being able to talk to computers using breezy casual conversational language; I’ve been telling these little digital bastards what to do for decades using extremely precise formalised language and they still get it wrong

Oooof almost 400 more in 3 months. Fuck.

3,633 Starlinks in orbit out of 3,930 launched (failure rate still ~10%, gross)

7,312 total sats in orbit. Well fuck, Starlink is finally about to pass the 50% OF ALL SATELLITES mark.

Think about that: 50% of all satellites are owned by the same ego-maniac billionaire who most of us here on Mastodon are now extremely familiar with. This is so bad.

Spotted in Louth, UK - VAX KILLS! Seems unlikely, to be fair. #AntiVaxxNutters

Using ChatGPT means you're not learning. It's effectively a smart script for copying other people's answers. You think you might understand what it's doing, but struggling and typing is what helps you learn.

In an interview you'll be asked technical questions about your knowledge, and you can't rely on ChatGPT then.

If you're a student learning #UnrealEngine, or anything really, I really advise doing it yourself.

Who here remembers these two?

How it started, etc.

I'm not entirely happy with the edges - some touching up may be in order.

But even so, it looks so much better now.

A sign of the times

There is an old road sign on Belmont Road, Abergavenny. Old, and rusty, and not even that easy to read. It was worse, it was covered in ivy,...

"Why is this feature still not added? It could be done in a few hours" is one of the most annoying things you can say to an Open Source dev.

But okay, let's say you're right and it's "just a few hours" (shall we say 2?). Then there's still more than 50 other open issues, if they're all "simple" and "just a few hours" that's at least 100 hours worth of work of things. Everyone claims their request matters most.

Also, am I allowed to, you know, have a life besides my side projects? Please?
