Something I still find jarring even after many years of working daily with Americans ...

For them it genuinely always seems that going to the doctor is a last minute act of desperation and financial uncertainty.

Someone just told me (via email) that it's "unbecoming for a professor" to use language like "bullshit".

Now that's some bullshit right there.

Watching lots of people learn why you don't buy cloud tied equipment. Ecoflow has a cloud outage and everyone is discovering their UPS, aircon, emergency batteries and the like are no longer functional.

I was GOBSMACKED to discover the new ToS has a "binding arbitration waiver," which takes away your right to sue, no matter how badly the service abuses you.

These are profoundly unethical, terrible clauses. They should never, ever appear in "adhesion contracts" (that is, contracts that you merely click through, rather than negotiating.)
