Today we are calling on institutions around the world to take control of their #DigitalSovereignty, including their social accounts. Governments should communicate directly with their citizens on open platforms, not through the mouthpiece of a corporation.

The world needs social sovereignty

The world needs to log off corporate-owned, centrally-controlled social media platforms and log on to a better way of being online. The world needs an open social web through the fediverse and Mastodon.

ZSA is really good at #keyboards 😍, and really bad at capitalism* 😁. I broke a part on my #ZSAVoyager and emailed to buy a replacement PCB (1/3 the total cost of the board!). I didn't ask about using the warranty because I'd made some mods that voided the warranty ages ago, but they looked up my order, saw it was still under warranty, and said they'd apply it. I thanked them and said I'd voided the warranty so I'd just pay for the replacement, but they said the mods I'd made wouldn't have caused the problem so if it would be okay with me they'd like to cover it anyway.

*I love them for this

Last night was a shitshow, but I'd still vote for the one who struggles to finish a sentence but has done more for climate than anyone in recent memory over the convicted felon who cannot utter a truthful sentence. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@alttexthalloffame My much older brother tells the story, from his childhood in the 1950s, of my mother driving the car through the countryside and narrating what she saw so that her blind (from diabetes) husband could enjoy the view. My brother would lie down on the back seat, close his eyes and see the world the way his father saw it.

I think of that every time there’s a request here to include ALT text descriptions on Mastodon. It’s such a small ask with such a huge upside.

If allegations against .0004% of UNWRA's employees are enough for US Admin to cancel all US funding for food & water to 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, then why isn't open support by 32% of ***the entire ministry of the government of Israel*** for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza, enough to cancel all US funding to their organization?

Cyclists Break Far Fewer Road Rules Than Motorists, Finds New Video Study

Busting the myth of the "scofflaw cyclist" Danish Road Directorate studies reveal that while 66% of motorists routinely break road traffic laws only 5% of cyclists do so. Law breaking by cyclists is higher where there is no cycle-specific infrastructure.
