The rollback of major DEI programs in FAANG companies should be a reminder that your company is not your friend and you need a union to protect your rights.

A new report found that the for-profit US healthcare system ranks last among peer nations.

We spend twice as much per capita on healthcare and have the worst health outcomes.

Reminder that Medicare For All would save $450B in health care costs and 68,000 lives per year.

Can generative AI help us write accessible code?

In this post on the @TetraLogical blog, I ask Bard (now Gemini), ChatGPT from OpenAI, and Fix My Code from userway for help writing accessible code:

Like many inventions before it, Generative AI is changing the way we do things. Like those inventions that went before it, Generative AI is capable of great good and great harm, and like the humans that used those inventions before us, we need to be smart about the way we use Generative AI.

600,000 US cybersecurity jobs are unfilled. Cyber.org's Project Access trains blind & vision-impaired students in cybersecurity through camps & simulations, bridging the gap & empowering futures.

Now in its second year, the program gives vision-impaired students Windows-based laptops with assistive technology to learn text-based coding and run through password-attack and credential-harvesting simulations.

Any #accessibility / #a11y folks in Nederland? I’m going to be in the Amsterdam area from 24 March to 4 April and open to meeting up.

It’s vitally important all of us learn to rest, and crucially, are given the support necessary to do so while safe and secure.

It’s also particularly important for those working in the accessibility space to have that support.

Everyone I know in accessibility is fighting burnout.

If you purchase a company that has:
• lied about “ADA compliance”,
• stolen content from others,
• relied on false advertising,
• pushed its broken LLM,
• manipulated WAVE checks,
• claimed lawsuit protection,

…and then reward that behavior by making its CEO / founder the president of your own company, then I am wary of claims the behavior will stop.

#UserWay Will Get You Sued

Disclaimer: This post and the headline is my opinion. I provide verifiable facts throughout to inform that opinion. I say this because French overlay vendor FACIL’iti has filed at least two frivolous lawsuits, and given overlay vendors tend to follow the same business practices, it is reasonable to assume UserWay…

I have a friend who’s really into lossless audio.

I give her a lot of FLAC for it.

As holiday fundraising campaigns continue, remember that the #SalvationArmy is fundamentally an evangelical anti-LGBTQ organization that campaigns against equal rights while pushing its religious agenda.

Donate elsewhere.
