The only good things from Focus on the Family at this point are some of the earliest Adventures in Odyssey episodes (Novacom is where I bowed out), and the Narnia audio dramas. Everything else is negative, harmful, and can be laid at the feet of James Dobson.
He can't hurt us anymore. Time to scrub out his legacy. Hug your kids, be queer, relearn how to love yourself.
As an #Exvangelical, I have a lot to process today. I don't know how much of the drivel he wrote directly raised me , but I was certainly raised by the same spirit of authoritarianism.
If your childhood was not similarly impacted, your present self certainly is. He helped the 70s-80s version of #ChristianNationalism crawl so the Project 2025 version can fuckin' SPRINT.
#JamesDobson and I grew up in the same Christian denomination (Church of the Nazarene, for those of you that need the trivia). Not the same church, mind you - never met the man in the flesh, thank God. He was a household name in my family, as was #FocusOnTheFamily. IYKYK, but if you never heard of him, that was his MO. You certainly have heard of Mike Pence - who considered him a role model. 'Nuff said there.

As someone who always prefers websites over apps ( whether it be me writing a project or using a technology ), my favorite line from @pluralistic keynote in PyCon US is
