2. "Settlers" encroach on native lands, violating the terms of the peace treaty. Government claims to be helpless to stop them.
3. Settlers increase provocation, level of violence.
4. Natives retaliate in a dramatically violent way that is intended to deter further settlement.
5. Government engages in wildly disproportionate military campaign.
6. Military campaign is stopped when the natives agree to surrender some land in exchange for a new peace treaty.

Repeat steps 1-6 until there are either no more natives or no more land to steal.

More than $650bn (£494bn) a year in public subsidies goes to fossil fuel companies, intensive agriculture and other harmful industries in the developing world, new data has shown.

Hey y'all! I have some news- idk if you have seen any discussions recently about issues with the Black Mastodon groups we have, but one of them is being shut down and the other one has been targeted repeatedly by spammers and white supremacists, since due to its design it is not really able to be moderated.

Thanks to a helpful suggestion, though, I was able to request a new group bot that has actual safety features- and they approved it!

Sorry to keep talking about the same thing, but I feel I must.

If you look at trade deficit/trade balance numbers over time, you can clearly see vast amounts of wealth being transferred from the poorest countries to developed nations.

This will be the legacy of our era: making poor countries even poorer just so we could buy more trinkets for ourselves.

This was probably obvious to some of you, but it just now clicked for me why Giuliani and Trump basically phoned in their defense in the defamation and rape cases.

If they participate in the trial, then when they lose it's been shown they are guilty. If they don't participate, like the student who leaves a test blank they can claim "well if I tried I could have done it"

The excuse for not engaging is they see the trials as fake or illegitimate.

Will Trump "phone in" the criminal cases too?

The world’s five richest men have more than doubled their fortunes to $869 billion (£681 billion) since 2020, while the world’s poorest 60% – almost five billion people – have lost money.

The details come in a report by Oxfam as the world’s richest people gather in Davos, Switzerland, for the annual World Economic Forum meeting of political leaders, corporate executives, and the super-rich.
