Now that I think of it, whoever had Jeffery Goldberg’s phone number in his or her address book would see the name from the address book. Anyone else would see the profile name. I imagine only Michael Waltz, the person who added him, had his phone number.

It’d be interesting to know what Jeffery Goldberg lists as his own name in his Signal profile. He sees his own membership in the group as “You,” but other members of the group would see whatever name he has in his profile.

Jeffery Goldberg said in his article that he was shown in the group only as JG, but it shows JG in the circle because he doesn’t have a profile picture, and Signal uses your initials as a default profile picture. The other members of the group would see the name in his profile, which could be Jeffery Goldberg, Jeff G., J.G., or anything else with the initials J and G.

The point is that the article says he was identified only as JG, which led people to speculate as to who the other participants thought this mysterious JG was. But we actually don’t know what the other participants saw on their end. Was it just JG? Or was it his full name that somehow nobody noticed?

Nothing says freedom of expression like threats to prosecute someone deciding to not fund your social media company.

Apple added a feature called "inactivity reboot" in iOS 18.1. This is implemented in keybagd and the AppleSEPKeyStore kernel extension. It seems to have nothing to do with phone/wireless network state. Keystore is used when unlocking the device. So if you don't unlock your iPhone for a while... it will reboot!

Law enforcement believe the activity, which makes it harder to then unlock the phones, may be due to a potential update in iOS 18 which tells nearby iPhones to reboot if they have not been in contact with a cellular network for some time, according to a document obtained by 404 Media.

If Trump wins, there will be efforts to blame Russian interference or the Harris campaign or Biden, etc. That's all fair. But we need to be clear eyed that a huge swath of America likes what Trump is selling. Transphobia. Mass deportation. That's what he ran on. And here we are.
I can’t sleep. I’m not even stunned. I’m so fucking angry with the number of fascist, racist, sexist assholes in this country.

Oh my god.

“When I was your age, we didn’t have no pretty box filled with fancy-dancy, clumping, odor-eliminating, space-age kitty litter. We walked twelve miles, uphill, in the snow, to shit in a rotting old wooden bucket full of rusty razor blades, and we considered ourselves damn lucky.”
This massive moth has been hanging on to my window all day.
