#PPOD: This stunning photograph captures the most violent moment during an eruption of the Calbuco volcano in Chile. Volcanic lightning occurs in the plumes of eruptions when volcanic ash particles collide, generating static electricity. Additionally, water vapor in the plume condenses and freezes as it rises, adding ice to the mix. And voila! The eventual electrical discharge causes lightning. @bioreconstruct automagic!
@bioreconstruct what speed and aperture and iso are you using for dusk/nighttime shots from a moving platform?
@User47 just a warning it may not last. My niece ate all sorts of things then went through a chicken nugget grilled cheese phase before emerging around 9 or 10 to try and love new things

I don't know what marketer needs to hear this, but every time you promote a new "#AI" feature it drives me *away* from your product.

A tool I haven't used? Hard pass.

A tool I've used and loved for years? Perhaps it's time to reevaluate our relationship.

Sure, I'm one person, but I'm certainly not alone.

To use the Montreal subway, you tap a paper ticket against the turnstile and it opens. But how does it work? And how can the ticket be so cheap that it's disposable? I opened up the tiny NFC chip inside to find out more... 1/15

I finally tackled a project I’ve been planning for a few years. Our basement monorail  is finished (for now). I was hoping for a retro Tomorrowland feel. I designed & 3D printed the wall & ceiling mounts, as well as a few short track sections. I bought the 24” straight tracks on eBay.

Trains are from 3 different sets collected over the years - 2 older models and the new 50th Anniversary with IR remote.

@aerosavvy so cool!
@lori not sure how far your shed is but it’s clearly@in battery dragging distance. So maybe a couple 100ft extension cords and save the money to put towards solar panels/battery on your house for power outages someday?

Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving has been linked to hundreds of crashes and dozens of deaths, according to a federal investigation published today.

“In total, NHTSA investigated 956 crashes, starting in January 2018 and extending all the way until August 2023,” reports @theverge. “Of those crashes, some of which involved other vehicles striking the Tesla vehicle, 29 people died. There were also 211 crashes in which ‘the frontal plane of the Tesla struck a vehicle or obstacle in its path.’ These crashes, which were often the most severe, resulted in 14 deaths and 49 injuries.”
