Volcanic lightning occurs in the plumes of eruptions when volcanic ash particles collide, generating static electricity. Additionally, water vapor in the plume condenses and freezes as it rises, adding ice to the mix. And voila! The eventual electrical discharge causes lightning. I finally tackled a project I’ve been planning for a few years. Our basement monorail 
is finished (for now). I was hoping for a retro Tomorrowland feel. I designed & 3D printed the wall & ceiling mounts, as well as a few short track sections. I bought the 24” straight tracks on eBay.
Trains are from 3 different sets collected over the years - 2 older models and the new 50th Anniversary with IR remote.

Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving has been linked to hundreds of crashes and dozens of deaths, according to a federal investigation published today.
“In total, NHTSA investigated 956 crashes, starting in January 2018 and extending all the way until August 2023,” reports @theverge. “Of those crashes, some of which involved other vehicles striking the Tesla vehicle, 29 people died. There were also 211 crashes in which ‘the frontal plane of the Tesla struck a vehicle or obstacle in its path.’ These crashes, which were often the most severe, resulted in 14 deaths and 49 injuries.”
The problem is we have a large population that plays the game with incomplete information which means when they think they have won they haven't. They stack up pyrrhic victory after pyrrhic victory while the spoils go to their oligarchical overlords.
Maybe there is a winning strategy against them. I hope so. But I have to take heart that long term, cooperation by rational actors can win out. However I have to accept that is not happening in my lifetime.
This is the most interesting video I've seen in a long time and gives us insight into so many of today's issues.
TL;DR the winning strategy for the long game is very different from a one off match. For the long haul being nice, forgiving, transparent, and not being a sucker win out. If winning gives you an advantage then pockets of players can grow to overcome the dominant not-nice losers.
Reminder: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.
The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.
Some people come out to friends and family by writing heartfelt notes about their feelings.
Apparently I do it by changing my name on Signal and then Signal sends a notification to everyone I am in a chat with saying I have a new name. Well that's one way to rip the bandaid off 😅
