Recently in the Lion's Mouth Bookstore in Green Bay, the only bookstore in that old paper pulp town at the mouth of the Fox River. And I found a copy of "Samantha in Europe", from 1895. Written by Marietta Holley, who did a whole "Samantha" series of books in dialect. Holley was Mark Twain's contemporary, and equally popular at the time. Fascinating. Completely imagined; Holley never travelled.

NewfangledI have cancelled all but one of my streaming video subscriptions in an effort to save money. I wanted to watch a certain movie but didn’t have a physical or digital copy, and didn’t want to purchase it. Suddenly, I remembered that libraries exist. Today I walked to the library and checked out a few movies on Blu-ray and DVD. For free. I feel strangely powerful. Support - and use - your local library.
