I am a fully blind programming enthusiast, I begun my programming career with bgt, a scripting language.
Now, I know #c, #c#, #rust, #python and probably others, always looking forward to learning new things.
I'm passionate about #linux, #foss, #accessibility, #screenreaders, #technology, also I'm full on with the idea of the #fediverse.
I'm one of the founders of #odilia screenreader, you can find more details in my profile metadata
Also, you can hit me up on #matrix if you want.

Really love Allan’s weekly updates! They’re good insights of what the @gnome foundation is about!

It’s a welcome breath of fresh air and transparency 💙

GNOME Foundation Update, 2025-11-28

Welcome to another GNOME Foundation update; an overview of everything that's been happening at the Foundation. There was no update last week, due to me being away from my computer last Friday, so this post covers a two week period rather than the usual single week. Many thanks to everyone who responded to my request...

Form and Function

With Trump reportedly planning to end the IRS Direct File program, there's no better time to remember how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free.

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free

Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

I was going to listen to this audiobook, but then I discovered the author has rejected Mastodon, barely uses Threads, and is very active on X. Not going to read this anymore. #PracticeWhatYouPreach
@srol yes, that's exactly what we should do!
so, I'm about to graduate from colidge. The Bachelor's degree I'll get will be in computer science, though I dk if I refere to it correctly in english. Either way, I have to write a 40 page document about a program I wrote, including code and screenshots if applicable, which should be formatted relatively nicely, including footnotes, citations and all that fun stuff universities usually require for this. So then, I want to write it in markdown, with the help of pandock, which I could then host on a git server somewhere. My question is, since I never did this before, are there formatters I can use to produce a nice and at least marginally looking academic docx or pdf, or maybe some pluggins y'all know of, and any useful sintax for the more esoteric bits such as citations and bibliography references would also be appreciated. I do know markdown itself, or at least most of it, from writing stuff on github at first, and then other relatively short documents where all the format specifiersI needed were headings, because I decided the format then. Also, any other tips, such as regarding how I should structure it from a filesystem point of view, also conversion scripts or whatever, could go a long way towards helping. I know of the trick to number files sequentially to make sure they are inserted correctly in the document, but that kinda seemns lame. I also don't want to have to type out every single file in the right order with an extremely long command I then dump in a script, because that's prone to mistakes. Anything y'all suggest, about this or any other thing presented here, would be awesome! I know this thing shouldn't take a lot of time to make, but I want to have a relatively solid system to do it with

here's what werealive.com has to say:

For Army Reserve Soldier Michael Cross, the world as he knew it ended in an instant. One minute, he’s in college, and the next, zombies are roaming the highway around him, breaking into cars, and tearing people apart. Join our survivors as they band together, fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discover that the Infected are far from the biggest threat in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, where the rules of human decency no longer apply.

we're alive is a zombie adventure, similar to the last of us. It's also an audio drama, so one can watch it without sight, perfect for blind people like me and maybe whoever else is reading this.
This worked for free for a long time, but now they're encountering some difficulties. In order to release the rest of the last few seasons, they started a kickstarter. For whoever can donate, that would be awesome, for all the community that formed around this!

@eyzov yes, and unfortunately this is a problem not only in the US, but also in most of the workd. It sucks, but for now that's how it is
If you work on #ActivityPub federation, we'd be very interested in feedback on this draft design for Manyfold's future implementation, including an extension type for 3d models: https://manyfold.app/technology/activitypub.html
