Cynicism as a Service (65+% uptime, I like to sleep).

My opinions belong to your employer, unless you work for my employer. In that case they are yours now (sorry).

Professional: Software Developer/Identity/Resiliency/Security/etc.

Unprofessional: trumpet, video games, fencing

He/him

It really bums me out that I keep seeing blog posts from technical people like "putting aside the obvious moral and ethical implications of LLMs, I'm interested in evaluating whether they can be useful for my work."

Like "putting aside the obvious moral and ethical concerns of breaking into my neighbours' houses, I'm interested in evaluating whether this can be useful for acquiring other people's valuables."

I have been able to suceed in my career as a female game developer due to my exceptional ability. All the other female developers I've worked with have also been exceptional. It's not that women are better devs, it's that mediocre female devs are brutally ejected. Nearly any man believes that there exist exceptional women who are very capable. What's more unusual is a man willing to tolerate a mediocre woman with the compassion he extends to a mediocre man

normalize making custom licenses, they make corporate lawyers nervous

there's seemingly a funny side effect for this one btw:

> 2. No part of a work under this license may be used or reproduced in any manner by organizations or businesses with more than fifty (50) employees.
> The Filthy Human Hands License is licensed under the Filthy Human Hands License.

so any org with >50 employees can't even copy the license without immediately needing fair use exceptions or equivalent

Good advice from ophthalmologist, very funny creator, and seemingly all-around good dude Dr Glaucoflecken on how to be prepared if you find yourself in any of the places where you might get pepper sprayed in the United States (💀)
