Hi! I'm Kat, a backyard astrophotographer from #Australia.
I have been a #photographer (landscape, weddings, portraits and fine art) since 2012. I began my #astrophotography journey in 2020.
When I'm not imaging I also ❤ to camp and travel with my hubby, fish, drink beer, hike, research my ancestory, and all things medieval or regency! I have two kickarse border collies and one shithead cat!

The Pleiades (also known as Messier 45 or The Seven Sisters) is an open star cluster. At about 444 light-years from Earth, it is the nearest Messier object.

Taken with a Nikon D7500 (modified) and a #Redcat51.

I can't stop watching those #pictures of the #Earth and the #Moon from the #Orion capsule of the #Artemis mission #NASA.

It always reminds me that so many #humans, #animals, #insects, #plants, etc... are living our #home #planet and that we are almost nothing in this vast #universe.

A couple of weeks ago I doubted I could even find the planet Uranus with the Skymax 127 telescope, in a light polluted (Bortle 6) area of Belfast. Even less likely to get it to appear on a planetary camera (ASI-178) but eventually there it was last night! Uranus currently 2.8 BILLION km from Earth.
Mars looking pretty good last night good too.

A re-edit of my Trifid Nebula data.
Took a little artistic liberty haha.
Originally captured back on 28 May 2022. It's about 3.5 Hours from my OSC.

NGC 1999 is a reflection area near the centre. It is located in the constellation Orion. It is actually very very close to the Orion Nebula and you may spot it when viewing wider field of view images of the Orion Nebula. NGC1999 is quiet interesting, the special keyhole shaped structure in the middle was once thought to be an area of space so dense with dust that nothing was visable behind it. But recent observations suggest it is actually a region of space that is completely empty!
